For the first time, the department of Apparel Engineering sets a new benchmark by presenting the national apparel fest 2022, which took place from December 4 to 8 in 2022. After successfully maintaining the previous three years' course, this year's Apparel Day has been revealed with a new name - ‘PLETENICA’ - inviting the DoAE Alumni to participate in their carnival.

This time, the ‘National Apparel Fest 2022’ forges a fresh route as students from other universities can join and rejoice alongside them. The department of Apparel Engineering organized an intra-departmental seminar and an inter-university national apparel fashion competition with a vision to give the new generation of youth opportunities to learn about the current state of the RMG sector and its challenges.
The five long days of celebration for the Apparelians included several different events, inviting the BUTEX and other universities to join in the journey and take in the festive atmosphere.
To ramp up the excitement of the occasion, the events kicked off with an intra-department football tournament on December 4 and 5. The students participated enthusiastically, and the roaring applause of the entire campus was impossible to miss.
The festivities were launched the following day, on December 6, with a quiz focused on textiles, in which BUTEX students, as well as those from other universities, enthusiastically participated. The classrooms were crowded with talented extracurricular activists looking to excel.

Finally, the ‘Preliminary Round' of the Textile Quiz Competition powered by ‘Math Haters’ was held with the active participation of all participants. Within that day, the top five teams advanced. In the end, students from Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET TEX Giants) were awarded the prize (DUET).
However, the chances of winning the awards weren't over. More intriguing activities, such as the ‘Gaming Contest', ‘Idea Presentation', and ‘Fashion Draping', took place the next day, on 7 December. Here, the purpose was to engage newcomers in the field of fashion and apparel. Also, showing them what their creativity can do for the fashion world. The competition reached its peak as the happy students became even more ecstatic, and it concluded with sincere congratulations to the winners. Clearly, the enthusiasm was evident, and the goal of showcasing the talents of our newcomers was accomplished.
The epitome of the event took place on 8 December. The day began with a formal session, including a seminar with the teacher-student session, welcoming the honorable faculty of BUTEX's Apparel Engineering department. With their insightful speech, the respected teachers encouraged their students to thrive for more, guiding them towards prosperity.
Prof. Md. Abul Kashem, the honorable vice chancellor of Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX), was the event's chief guest and verbalized his joy with his colleagues and students. His joy at witnessing his students participating in such activities and opportunities knew no bounds. He was ecstatic to see how the festival had been set up and served. He gave the devoted student a heartfelt speech in which he emphasized the importance of good deeds and hard work as the only means of bringing about tomorrow's changes.
The honorable Head of the Department of Apparel Engineering, Dr. Kaniz Farhana, appreciated the enthusiasm of the apparel department and stated that the department's differences from others are owed to its originality and creativity. The legacy may continue to do so. In her words, this department provides a wide-ranging and exceptional learning opportunity in the field of textiles, ranging from highly technical and innovative to practical and pragmatic.
Prof. Dr. Md. Mashiur Rahman Khan, the respected Dean of the Faculty of Fashion Design and Apparel Engineering, who attended the event as a special guest, emphasized the value of students' growth and development and urged them to pay more attention to their academic studies and extracurricular activities. According to him, the university is prepared to meet any needs of the students, and they should take advantage of all opportunities to grow and succeed.

The students were motivated and guided toward success by the entire faculty of the department of apparel engineering, who were also present and spoke. It was an honour for the students to be present there as well since the students idolized them at their best. As the session came to a close, the prize-giving ceremony began, with awards and heartfelt congratulations to the winners.
As the day followed, all the students came together for their final activities, which kicked off with a joyful, upbeat flash mob in the BUTEX field in front of the Bangabandhu building. The scenario in which the students from various batches came together and gave their best was delightful.
The most thrilling event, ‘The Fashion Show' started right after. Fashion Logistics Sponsor ‘Fbh Fashion’ supported the event. The event's theme was ‘Revolution of Apparel Throughout the Centuries’, and the department of Apparel Engineering shared perspectives on the historical revolutions with freshmen and alumni.
The program demonstrated the range of sarees worn in Bangladesh while illustrating the various draping techniques used in the contemporary era. The DoAE's stunning women graced the stage with their vibrant and captivating aesthetic.
‘The Cultural Night' was the last but most thrilling celebration, drew everyone's attention to the stage. The Apparel Engineering department students had the chance to express their excitement through music, singing, dancing, acting, and other activities. As the day came to a thrilling conclusion with top-notch performances, we shall await for the department of Apparel Engineering to awaken again in the following year. The legacy may continue following the paths of 'Degumming 2018’, ‘Applique', ‘Regalia’, and ‘Pletenica 2022!’
